The UAE is taking significant steps towards environment sustainability on domestic fronts. In addition to local efforts, the country is inviting foreign eco-activists to achieve their greener objective.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) has announced Blue Visa during the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai.
WHAT IS BLUE VISA?
The Blue Visa is a 10-year residency program, aimed at individuals who have made remarkable contributions towards environment protection and sustainability within the country and globally. This initiative is aligned with the UAE’s long term goal to a greener and sustainable future.
“This initiative aims to leverage their contributions to achieve ambitious national goals and build a sustainable future for the people of the UAE and the world” said Dr Amna Bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, speaking to Emirates News Agency WAM.
Eligibility Criteria for Blue Visa
- Members of International organisations and companies involved in sustainability and environmental causes
- Associations and non-governmental organisations
- Recipients of Global award for environmental actions
- Renowned activist and researchers in sustainability

Visa Application Fees
- Request fees: AED 100
- Issue fees: AED 100
- E-services fees: AED 28
- ICP fees: AED 22
- Smart services fee: AED 100
STEPS TO APPLYING FOR BLUE VISA
- Candidates must apply the nomination from ICP platform
- Once a nomination request is approved by the ICP, one can proceed with the visa application.
- If the candidate is already a UAE resident, then they must update visa status accordingly.
- Provide full name, contact details, category, and nomination request number.
- Enter identification details, including File Number or Unified Number.
- Submit personal details such as nationality, occupation, date of birth, passport information (passport number, issue date, expiry date, and place of issue), faith, marital status, and residential address.
- Upload the required documents and complete the payment for the visa service fee.
The UAE will kick start the program by issuing visas to 20 sustainability leaders and innovators.
