Plastic bags, plastic bottles and plastic packaging are bad for the environment.

What damage does plastic do the environment?

What can be done by governments and individuals to solve this problem?

Environment is a natural habitat around us which needs to be clean to live a healthy and happy life. Nowadays, people use plastic materials to a great extent which can damage ecosystem. I will discuss the effects caused by plastic waste on our environment alongside the measures we can take to resolve this issue.

Commencing with the multifarious harms caused by plastic on our environment. First and foremost, it creates litter in bulk and decomposition of plastic waste takes decades. Thus, it stays in landfills for many years and because of consumerism, usage of plastic bags and plastic packaging is surging at a profound scale. As a result, plethora of landfills need to be created. Furthermore, it disturbs marine ecosystem. Human beings throw plastic bags and plastic bottles in water. Owing to this, sometimes animals consume certain parts of plastic which disturbs their reproduction cycle. Apart from this, some sea creatures got entangled in plastic materials resulting in the extinction of certain water species. Thus, it is hazardous for marine life forms.

Considering this, there are certain actions that individuals and government can take to alleviate this problem. Primarily, humans should start using bio-degradable products and stainless steel bottles. These bottles can be refilled and could be used for multiple years. Therefore, it will reduce plastic littering to some extent. In addition to it, government can educate people about plastic alternatives and these materials can be provided to public as a reduced cost, resulting which people will prefer to use other modes of packaging over plastic.

To conclude, plastic is severely harmful for our environment. Although the joint efforts of supreme authorities and society could help to eradicate it in an efficient way.
