You have had a bank account for a few years. Recently you received a letter from the bank stating that your account is $240 overdrawn and you will be charged $70 which will be taken directly from your account. You know that this information is incorrect.

Write a letter to the bank. In your letter

  • Explain why you are writing this letter
  • Why you think that information is incorrect
  • say what you like them to do about it

Dear Sir,

My name is ABC XYZ. I am a platinum customer of your bank holding good balance from a long period of time. I am writing this letter to express my dissatisfaction about the recent letter that I have received from the bank.

I am a golden customer having account number 123456. I have account in your bank since 2010. Yesterday, I had received a letter from your bank, dated 25th April, which states that I have overdrawn funds from my account. As a result, I will be penalised by deducting $70 from my account as a compensation.

Respected Sir, I believe that information is inaccurate. Primarily, I have not debited any funds from my account on 23rd April. Apart from this, the mode of transaction is cash as per the bank statement attached to the letter and I was not in the city on that day. Thus, I would request you to verify the information by checking CCTV footage of that particular day.

Considering this, I would suggest you to do meticulous inspection in this matter. Moreover, I would highly appreciate if my account will not be charged for the wrong reasons as I have not done any transaction in this month.

I would look forward to having a careful investigation from your end.

Yours Sincerely,

[YOUR-NAME]
