Dubai’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has launched an AI based visa system named “Salama” to increase the competence of government services.
Director General of GDRFA Dubai, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri announced the AI system in the presence of senior officials and media persons. The announcement was made during the Fourth Annual Media Council under the theme “Media Vision Shaping the Future.”

The newly launched program “Salama” can be used by residents to renew their visas. The platform can identify user data and perform residency renewal in three simple steps:

- Complete the payment
- Issue the renewed residency permit
The newly available portal makes visa renewal hassle-free without the need of traditional application form and paperwork. Also, each transaction takes 10-20 seconds making it a powerful user-friendly tool.
Salama is a game changer service which shows Dubai authorities commitment to provide quality life to their residents. Lieutenant General Al Marri mentioned “Digital transformation is not just about building services; it’s about redefining customer experiences, improving government performance, and fulfilling the visionary leadership’s goal of providing more accessible, efficient services”.
SERVICES PROVIDED BY SALAMA
- Renew or cancel residency permits
- Receive quick updates to visa enquiries
- Complete transactions without physically visiting anywhere or going through multiple systems
The portal can be used in more than 40 languages which will be extended further. Also, Dubai authorities are planning to extend it for company related services.
