The Vietnamese authorities are planning to modify their visa rules to attract more tourists from India and other nations. Presently, Vietnam issues e-visa to Indians. However, a plethora of other Southeast nations grant visa-on-arrival to Indians.
On Monday, Consul General of Vietnam Le Quang Bien during “Da Nang Tourism Roadshow” in Ahmedabad said “At present, we have e-visa, we do not have visa on arrival for tourists from India and other countries. But we are considering a new visa policy for entry of tourists from India and other countries.”
“There is a lot of potential for tourism from India to Vietnam due to a very high population of India. The two countries have a very strong bilateral relationship. We value tourists from India, the number of which is increasing,” the diplomat emphasised.
Another Vietnamese diplomat mentioned that their country is taking significant steps to boost tourism to Da Nang. It is a coastal city famous for its beaches, museums and heritage sites.
Huynh Thi Huong Lan, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center said “India plays a key role in our growth plans for Da Nang’s tourism sector. We are committed to adapting to the tastes and expectations of Indian travellers, ensuring that Da Nang becomes a more accessible and attractive destination for this market,”
Lan further explained that based on deep insights and ongoing efforts to connect with Indian stakeholders, De Nang is modifying their service packages specifically for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and wedding tourism.
India ranked among the top 5 international tourism markets of De Nang. “For every two Indian tourists visiting Vietnam, one chooses Da Nang as their destination,” In 2024, total 5.3% Indian tourists arrived in Da Nang out of the total nearly 50% international tourists who have visited Vietnam.
Da Nang is popularly known as the premier beach destination. Also, it has earned the title of “Asia’s Leading Event and Festival Destination”. Da Nang is the third largest city of Vietnam and contributes remarkably to the economic growth of Vietnam.
