Japan tourist visa processing time surged for Filipinos

Japan’s standard visa processing time for Asian countries is typically five working days. It involves the time after submitting the application by the travel agents.

However, starting from January 9th, visa processing time for the Philippines has been increased to almost two months. It happened as a result of surging the number of applications received from various nations.

The important factor for the rising number of applications is the Cherry Blossom season, which happens in Mid of the March. Another contributing factor is the fall in the price of Yen, which makes the trip more affordable.

However, the Japanese government is making efforts to reduce the processing time to the previous five day term. The embassy said that “Japan places great importance on its bilateral relationship with the Philippines and the people-to-people exchanges that form the foundation of that relationship”. Japan will try to reduce the timeline for tourists as well as various business travel visas. Although, it has not been mentioned when this change will be applicable.
